The Best Laid Plans
After months of preparation by Marianne to organise the whole trip and a little training preparation by the rest of us, the time has arrived for this year’s challenge………… Cycling 750km from Boston to Bar Harbour.
We were all devastated when we learned that Marianne had had an accident whilst out cycling, sustaining, amongst other injuries, a broken elbow. Requiring surgery and with only a month to go before our trip, we knew she would be unlikely to be able to cycle with us.
As Marianne and Steve welcome us to their home in Boston, it is evident that Marianne is still in a lot of pain and with limited movement in her arm, won’t be able to cycle with us. Instead, she will travel with her friend Kate who is providing luggage transfers and support to our group. We will enjoy their company each evening and if we cycle at a reasonable pace, may even join them on the beach one afternoon!
